Volunteers get ready to go to work at Christian Service Center.
For OUC’s Earth Month Community Volunteer Project, 56 volunteers spent four hours on April 30, 2022, giving the Christian Service Center (CSS) a fresh new look. Working to improve the center’s curb appeal, volunteers ─ 49 OUC employees, family members and friends, along with four employees with AmeriScapes Land Management Services and three from CSS ─ laid sod, planted landscaping, mulched plant beds, installed privacy screening, cleaned up the grounds and sanded and painted a dozen benches. Inside, volunteers sorted and organized donations, including clothing.

Christian Service Center lends a helping hand to “meet physical, emotional and spiritual needs.” The facility is located in OUC’s Empowerment Zone (EZ). OUC is leveraging resources and partnerships to enhance educational opportunities, health and wellness programs, jobs training and sustainable housing in the EZ, an area encompassing the 32805 ZIP code on Orlando’s west side.
