Workforce development, neighborhood revitalization and student outreach programs contributed to recognition.

For the ninth consecutive year, OUC has been honored with the Florida Municipal Electric Association (FMEA) “Building Strong Communities” award. This recognition highlights OUC’s commitment to investing in projects and programs that deliver affordable and reliable energy and significantly enhance the quality of life in Central Florida.

OUC was recognized for extensive community engagement programs, which include initiatives focused on energy and water conservation, volunteerism, workforce development, neighborhood revitalization, and educational programs for middle, high school and post-high school students, among other outreach efforts.

The award was announced on November 12 at FMEA’s Energy Connections Conference and Trade Show in Daytona Beach. OUC joins 19 other community-owned Florida public power communities in receiving this award.

OUC has received the “Building Strong Communities” award every year since its inception in 2015.
