Leaders from OUC, AdventHealth and Comcast NBCUniversal, as well as members of the St. Cloud City Council, gathered in Osceola County on April 10, 2025, to celebrate the grand opening of the largest solar project in OUC history. Located east of St. Cloud on two separate 600-acre sites, the Harmony II Solar Energy Center and the Storey Bend Solar Energy Center more than double OUC’s existing solar capacity.

The combined 149 MW of capacity brings OUC’s solar energy portfolio to 271.5 MW, which is enough to power 50,000 typical OUC-customer homes.

AdventHealth and Comcast NBCUniversal have signed on as anchor tenants – subscribing to a significant portion of each solar energy center through OUC’s SunChoice. The program enables commercial and residential customers to support solar energy, while offsetting all or part of their electric consumption. Customers can meet their sustainability goals without installing or maintaining the infrastructure themselves.

AdventHealth will offset 50% of their energy consumption in OUC’s service territory by subscribing to the Harmony II Solar Energy Center. Comcast NBCUniversal, parent company of Universal Destinations & Experiences, will offset 30% of their consumption at Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure and CityWalk through their subscription to the Storey Bend Solar Energy Center.

“At OUC, we believe renewable energy isn’t just the path to clean energy; it’s part of the future of doing business in Central Florida,” said Clint Bullock, General Manager & CEO. “As we officially launch these two solar energy centers, we’re more than doubling OUC’s solar energy capacity and helping our customers reach their clean energy goals while fulfilling our vision to be an innovative solutions provider and partner of choice in Central Florida.”

OUC has been recognized for its solar initiatives by being named a “SunRiser” for the last six years by the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, earning the #1 spot in 2024. This designation highlights utilities that add the most capacity to solar energy generation in terms of watts per customer.

As OUC progresses toward its goal of increasing grid resiliency and diversifying how electricity is generated, solar will play a major role. It’s the best form of renewable generation available in Florida and key to OUC achieving net zero CO2 emissions by 2050, with interim targets of 50% reduction by 2030 and 75% by 2040.
