More than 60 OUC employees and family members, on June 26, 2021, volunteered to stuff backpacks with essential school supplies at A Gift For Teaching’s annual “The Great Big Backpack Build.” Volunteers stuffed 1,500 backpacks, which will be delivered to local students in need when the 2021-22 school year begins. OUC contributed $2,500 toward the purchase of school supplies and backpacks. The event was held at OUC’ The Pines at Windermere recreation facility, marking the seventh consecutive year of our sponsorship of The Great Big Backpack Build.
The Community Engagement team arranged this volunteer opportunity with the help of Jose Rodriguez, Facilities Maintenance Technician, and Michael Stephens, Manager of Security.
