In May, OUC welcomed our 2019 Emerging Student Program interns from universities across the state. We’re talking to some of them to learn more about the work they’ve been doing this summer. Alix Celeste, Information Governance Intern, shares his experience below.

Q: What school do you attend, and what do you study?

A: I recently graduated from UCF with a bachelor’s degree in Technical Communications. Go Knights!

Q: What do you do at OUC?

A: I’m an intern in the Information Governance Department. In that role I’ve gained experience with a little bit of everything, including project management, quality assurance, solution architecture and content management. I get to do a variety of tasks and it’s really given me a birds-eye view of everything that goes on at OUC.

Q: How has your experience been working in your department?

A: I feel very connected with my team. They’ve welcomed me with open arms.

Q: What’s been your favorite project or assignment?

A: I’ve been working on an electronic records inventory, and that project has given me the chance to meet with different managers from across the Commission. I’ve been able to talk to so many people about what they do and learn about what makes OUC run so smoothly.

Q: Would you recommend the Emerging Student Program to someone seeking an internship?

A: I definitely would. Sometimes we think of interns as just making coffee runs, but that’s not the case here. I’m doing meaningful work, and I know I’ll continue to use the tools and experience I’m getting at OUC wherever I go.
