OUC employees and their families teamed up on Saturday, June 13 to volunteer at United Against Poverty Orlando for the Q3 Volunteer Project.

In total, 52 volunteers participated, representing OUC and its commitment to serving as a hometown utility and living our value of Partner Together.

Volunteers assisted with stocking shelves, cleaning and organizing UAP’s grocery store, which offers an accessible food-assistance program where individuals and families can select items based on their needs.

Founded in 2003, UAP helps individuals and families break the cycle of poverty through access to basic needs, nutritional food, crisis care, education and employment training. Last year, the organization’s Member Share Grocery Program served more than 12,100 unique members.

The volunteer event reflects the Partner of Choice pillar of OUC’s new 10-year strategic plan Strategy 2035, which calls on OUC to strengthen relationships and create positive impacts throughout the community we serve. By investing time and talent outside the workplace, employees help reinforce OUC’s role as a trusted community partner and demonstrate that reliability extends beyond providing electric and water services.
