Thirteen Osceola County Public School students were celebrated recently by OUC for their efforts to raise awareness about energy conservation.

The artwork of Vanellope M., a student at Lakeview Elementary, is featured on the cover of the 2025 Watts Saving Project Calendar.

Launched in Fall 2024, the Watts Savings Project educates 4th and 5th graders about the importance of sustainable energy use. Participating students collaborate with their teachers to create artwork that illustrates a positive message or slogan about energy conservation. The public then votes on the artwork, selecting 13 students to be featured in OUC’s 2025 Energy Conservation Calendar. This year, artwork by Lakeview Elementary 5th grade student Vanellope M. was chosen for the cover.

“The Watts Savings Project is not just about reducing electricity consumption; it’s also about inspiring the next generation to be mindful stewards of our resources,” said Linda Ferrone, OUC Chief Customer and Marketing Officer. “It’s wonderful to see young minds engage with such an important issue – and we love seeing their creativity shine through in their work.”

The 13 students were presented with a certificate during an awards banquet held at Osceola Arts on March 4, 2025. OUC’s 2025 Energy Conservation Calendar features the following artwork:
