College students seeking an energizing and innovative opportunity to power their careers and make a positive impact in the Central Florida community can apply for OUC’s 2024 Summer Emerging Talent Internship Program beginning in early February.

Committed to offering students real-world, hands-on experience through collaboration with seasoned professionals, the OUC Internship program is aligned with the summer, fall, and spring semesters of Florida’s colleges and universities, taking place Monday, May 6, through Wednesday, August 21.

During the program, interns have the opportunity to take part in key projects at OUC while partnering with an OUC mentor for guidance. Interns also participate in a variety of professional development and community engagement activities.

Open to students in undergraduate and graduate-level programs, the program requires students to meet eligibility requirements related to academic standing and authorization to work in the United States. Applications will soon be made available on OUC’s career page, and the program will also be advertised on all major job boards.

Previous internship opportunities have included work in the fields of engineering, customer service, marketing, legal and more.

Benefits of participating in OUC’s Internship Program include:

  • dedicated work focused on meaningful projects with utility industry professionals.
  • real-life work experience related to the intern’s college major and field of study.
  • delivery of a pragmatic view of what the workforce entails.
  • professional development, comprised of a mix of instructor-led classes and self-paced modules.
  • opportunity to build a professional network.
  • dedicated Mentor throughout the program.
  • potential to transition to a permanent role.

OUC employees have the opportunity to serve as Mentors to interns. As part of that work, Mentors complete a multi-day onboarding experience before the start of the Internship. Additional coaching and support are provided by the Talent Acquisition and Talent Development team during the program.

Currently, OUC has 45 interns and anticipates approximately 35 additional interns to join for the 2024 summer program. To learn more about the program, visit ouc.com/emergingtalent.
