It’s that time of year … can you feel it? The weather is getting warmer and the days are getting longer.
Are you feeling inspired to tidy up your home with a spring cleaning? Us too!
While there are lots of projects you could tackle, may we suggest a few? These four spring cleaning tasks will increase your energy efficiency—and decrease your monthly bill:
- Change your air filters. This not only improves air quality, but also ensures your HVAC system is working at maximum efficiency.
- Dust off devices like light fixtures, fridge coils, dryer vents and electronics. It may seem small, but it will help the devices function better. And that can have a big impact on your energy consumption.
- Clean out window and sliding glass door tracks. This will help their seals work more effectively to keep cool air in.
- Set your thermostat to the magic number—78 degrees. That’s the energy efficiency sweet spot for your home’s A/C. Each degree you lower the thermostat below 78 adds six to eight percent more your cooling costs.
