Artifacts and architecture are among the displays in Pompeii: The Immortal City exhibition at Orlando Science Center.
Here’s an idea for a fun ― and educational ― family experience during January: Visit the exhibition Pompeii: The Immortal City at Orlando Science Center (OSC).
A longtime OUC partner, OSC is one of only three sites in the United States to host this collection of archaeological artifacts from the ancient city buried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. This blockbuster exhibit, according to OSC, allows visitors “to experience the destruction of the city and to identify with the inhabitants of that time, immobilized by the volcano’s ashes.”
OSC advises that although Pompeii “is appropriate for people of all ages, some of the art features era-specific depictions of men and women without clothing.”
Spread over 10,000 square feet of space, the Pompeii exhibition provides room for visitors to observe social distancing. OSC also adheres to CDC COVID-19 safety guidelines, with visitors required to wear face coverings and undergo temperature checks.
Pompeii is open through January 24, 2021. Timed-entry is required and tickets must be purchased online. Go to OSC.org/pompeii for exhibit times and to purchase tickets.
