OUC’s Emerging Talent Internship Program wrapped up for the summer on Wednesday, Aug. 2, with a project showcase and certificate ceremony at Reliable Plaza.

Attended by both students and their mentors, the event provided OUC interns with the opportunity to share a presentation or poster depicting their work from the summer. Topics and projects covered from across the Commission included electric and water production, electrification, customer experience, community engagement, sustainability, corporate strategy enterprise architecture and more.

To kick off the presentations, students were welcomed by Val SanMarco, Talent Acquisition Manager, who shared her appreciation for the students, mentors, supervisors and business partners who made this year’s program a success.

Students also heard from Clint Bullock, General Manager & CEO and former OUC intern. Bullock commended the students for taking the challenge this summer to complete projects that are integral to OUC’s business operations and strategic plan.

Between presentations Jayssa Williams, Business Support Specialist and former OUC intern, shared her journey as an intern and provided valuable career advice to the group.

After the presentations, Latisha Thompson, Chief Employee Experience Officer, provided closing remarks before presenting each student with a certificate of completion.

Following the ceremony, attendees had the opportunity to learn more about the students’ work with an exhibit hall showcasing their work.

OUC’s Emerging Talent Program aims to cultivate the next generation of industry professionals and leaders. The newly redesigned program by Talent Acquisition and Talent Development hired 22 students for the summer semester, 14 of whom will continue their internships for the fall semester. 18 new interns will also join the fall program which begins on Aug. 21.
