OUC employees, along with family and friends, gathered for a good cause at the Kia Center on January 30 — demonstrating OUC’s ongoing commitment to serving as a hometown utility and community partner across Central Florida.

From 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., 44 volunteers sorted, organized and assembled blankets for the Foundation for Foster Children (FFC), which works to equip foster children with the tools and resources needed to lead healthy, successful lives.

By the event’s end, employees had put together 140 blankets for donation to FFC. The blankets featured a variety of unique and eye-catching patterns, from cheetah print to Mickey Mouse.

“We are so excited to be here to give back to our community,” said Queen Massaline, Senior Community Engagement Coordinator.

For OUC employees, volunteerism reflects the organization’s core values and deep connection to the community it serves. As a hometown utility, OUC is committed not only to providing reliable electric and water service, but also to supporting the well-being of neighbors across Central Florida.

“It means a lot, because we are a family here at OUC,” said Monekia Wilson, Customer Service Rep I. “It means a lot to be working with my family – because together, we can change a lot of lives.”

The Q1 volunteer event was held in partnership with the Orlando Magic. Immediately following the event, volunteers had the opportunity to watch the Magic take on the Toronto Raptors at the Kia Center.
