Eight conservation-themed painted rain barrels were sold in the 2021 Water Color Project Rain Barrel Silent Auction. Open to the general public, the virtual auction raised $1,115 for the arts programs of the following six Orange County Public Schools (OCPS):

  • Wedgefied K-8 (2 barrels)
  • Acceleration East High School (1 barrel)
  • Gotha Middle School (2 barrels)
  • Memorial Middle School (1 barrel)
  • Jones High School (1 barrel)
  • Lake Nona High School (1 barrel)

The rain barrel painting contest challenges teams of middle and high school art students in OCPS to enter themed barrels for judging, public viewing and an auction. Themes include Water Conservation, Florida, Environmental/Eco-Friendly and Orlando/Orange. Meanwhile, elementary school students enter themed drawings in a calendar contest.

Introduced in 2006, the Water Color Project is designed to educate and inform participants about the importance of water conservation.
