In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, a team of six OUC line technicians left from Gardenia Operations Center this morning and headed to Williston, Florida, to assist in power restoration efforts.

The City of Williston, which serves approximately 1,462 customer accounts, requested aid through the Florida Municipal Electric Association (FMEA), and OUC quickly answered the call.

The following employees will assist in Williston:

  • Donny Hurley – Lead Line Tech
  • Nolan Myers – Line Tech III
  • Justin Stanley – Line Tech II
  • Shane Yarborough – Line Tech I
  • Joseph Schulte – Line Tech II
  • Trevor Taylor – Line Tech I

In addition, Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) has requested assistance through the same FMEA network. GRU, which serves approximately 100,600 customers, is working to restore power to the nearly 35,000 accounts still affected by the storm. This afternoon, OUC deployed two more crews, including 11 employees, to aid in these restoration efforts in Gainesville.
