OUC helped create a festive mood in Orlando by lighting up the city with displays of traditional holiday icons. On Sunday, Nov. 21, a team of OUC Lighting and line techs joined City of Orlando workers in raising the Jack Kazanzas Christmas Star at the downtown intersection of South Orange and Central avenues. Also in partnership with the city, OUC and subcontractor Terry’s Electric Inc. worked together to install 1,600 illuminated “snowflake” decorations on streetlights and utility poles throughout Orlando. And in keeping with a longstanding tradition, OUC turned on the eight-foot-tall holiday greetings neon signs atop its historic Lake Ivanhoe power plant. Alternating from “Happy Holidays” to “Happy New Year,” the signs are visible to passers-by on Orange Avenue directly in front of the shuttered plant and Interstate 4 across the lake.
