On Friday, June 15, 36 OUC interns volunteered over 100 collective hours at Clean the World, an Orlando-based nonprofit dedicated to providing hygiene products to communities in need around the globe.
During the event, interns toured the facility, learned about Clean the World’s mission and helped sort through cases of recycled hotel soap that will later be transformed into new bars.
For many interns, the experience provided a firsthand look at how a simple task and a small part of your day can make a meaningful impact.
“Experiences like this continue to remind me that the world is bigger than my own circle,” said Lillian Herron, who is interning with OUC’s Program Development team. “The work we did doesn’t end when we leave. It goes on to help people who need it.”

Michael Battista, Volunteer Community Engagement and Facilities manager at Clean the World, highlighted the important role partnerships with organizations like OUC play in helping the nonprofit fulfill its mission.
“Our continued partnership with organizations such as OUC allows us to keep doing what we’re doing,” he said. “The impact is huge because it allows us to ensure products are sorted and prepared for distribution.”
This volunteer opportunity also highlighted OUC’s commitment to giving back to the communities it serves.
“It’s truly inspiring to see how hotels around the globe are helping turn discarded items into essential hygiene supplies for communities in need,” said Priya Bhatnagar, Program Manager for Talent Acquisition and Employee Experience. “I’m grateful to play even a small part in the impact they’re making.”
