On Saturday, Dec. 7, 4,486 runners braved the frigid temperatures for the OUC Orlando Half Marathon and Track Shack Lake Eola 5k.
Despite the cold weather, 109 employees and their families participated in the race, a 53% increase compared to last year’s turnout!
In 1999, OUC became the title sponsor of the annual race, kicking off a 25-year partnership with Track Shack, Orlando’s hometown running and walking headquarters. The half marathon began in 1976 and has become one of the top road races in the Southeast.

This year, OUC’s presence at the event was larger than ever before. During the race, runners enjoyed great-tasting OUC water along the route, contributing to Track Shack’s sustainability goals by reducing single-use plastic water bottles.
For the after-race celebration, OUC’s Marketing & New Products team debuted three fun, interactive experiences promoting energy and water rebates. Participants could cool down by walking through a 15-foot-long misting “Chill Duct;” participate in a “How Low Can Your Utility Bill Go” limbo challenge; and literally see OUC’s rebate savings in a money-blowing cash grab cube. All these educational activities were sustainably powered by two OUC all-electric Ford F-150 Lightnings.
Jenise Osani, Vice President of Marketing & New Products, delivered the race’s opening remarks. WESH (NBC) Ch. 2 held a live broadcast, and OUC’s junior reporter provided tours of OUC’s activations. Click here to watch Penelope!
