Installation of the highly anticipated floating solar array at Orlando International Airport is nearly complete. OUC partnered with the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) to install the array, which boasts 360 panels and, when online, will produce enough electricity to power about 14 homes. The array – shaped like the airport’s “O” logo – will be easily seen by the millions of passengers who fly in and out of Orlando every year, even at night. Open bodies of water have proven beneficial for solar, as they are typically devoid of trees, are highly reflective and help avoid impact to valuable land space.
