In October 2018, Hurricane Michael struck the Florida Panhandle as a Category 4 storm, causing widespread devastation. Soon after the hurricane, OUC sent electric and water crews to help restore power and rebuild the water infrastructure in hard-hit areas.

Tallahassee and Chattahoochee welcomed OUC electric crews, including five three-person line crews and damage assessors with expertise in prioritizing power restoration. Near Panama City in Bay County, 19 water technicians and engineers aided with the rebuilding of water distribution systems

The crews worked 16-hour days to restore power and water to thousands of residents and businesses, including a medical center.
