Building managers across central Florida are keeping their properties cool thanks to OUCooling and the dedicated team in Chilled Water Services. The mighty crew consists of technicians, chilled water operators and office staff who work behind the scenes to keep the innovative technology running smoothly and efficiently.

“We’re a small department but we manage nine chilled water plants in various locations so communication and cohesion is essential to our operations. It helps that we have a great team,” said David Taggart, Apprentice Chilled Water Operator.

When asked about the many operations the team performs, Aaron T. Fagen, Manager of Chilled Water Services, jokingly said, “We’d be here all day. There’s an encyclopedia of duties that our team performs daily.”

“We provide reliable chilled water service to our customers for their air conditioning needs,” said Luis Velez, Master Technician. “Not only do we provide the product, but we also maintain the production equipment and keep our facilities clean.”

Orlando-area companies such as the CNL Center, Lockheed Martin, the Westin Grand Bohemian Hotel, Orange County Convention Center and The Mall at Millenia enjoy the rewards of the chilled water’s hard work every day. And soon, the Orlando International Airport will be part of that group.

The team has various projects to enhance operational effectiveness. “We’re currently upgrading the data acquisition process with electromagnetic flow meter technology. We’re also installing acid feed systems to help conserve water and reduce cooling tower blowdown,” said Velez. “We continue to push the boundaries of what it means to be reliable and innovative.”
