Emerging Technology and Renewables Manager

Sam Choi is responsible for overseeing the development of new renewable energy projects and programs as well as demonstrating emerging technologies. His efforts are key to OUC meeting its sustainability goals and staying on the cutting edge of clean energy technology.

Choi is currently leading OUC’s drive to develop a solar aggregation program for residential customers, deploy solar sculptures for solar education, and advance electric vehicle usage throughout OUC’s service territory.

Prior to joining OUC, Choi served as a project director with Boston Pacific Company in Washington, D.C., a specialized consulting firm serving the electricity and natural gas sectors. Choi provided technical, analytical and financial expertise for renewable energy projects from Maine to Maui. He also led the financial and technical review of offshore wind farms off the coast of New Jersey and performed independent evaluations and contract negotiations for solar, wind and biomass projects on behalf of major utilities across the nation, including Pacific Gas & Electric and PacifiCorp.

Choi has provided expert testimony on renewable energy projects before regulatory agencies and has had several papers and reports published about sustainable power.

Choi holds a master’s in Engineering Management from George Washington University and a bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech.
