Gain a better understanding of how much electricity you use and spot opportunities to conserve energy and reduce your bill with OUC’s Usage Dashboard Alerts.
In terms of usage, you can track:
- Consumption – the total amount of electricity used during a specified period, measured in kilowatt-hours (kWh).
- Demand – the maximum amount of electricity used at any one time, measured in kilowatts (kW).
Setting alerts is easy:
- Log in to your myOUC account and click the “View Usage” button in the account summary to access the Usage Dashboard.
- Make a note of your “Avg Energy Use” on the summary page. This is your average daily usage in kilowatt-hours (kWh).
- Click on the “Settings” tab to manage your alerts.
- Click on the “Configure Contact Methods” button to add your email address. You can add up to six email addresses, so be sure to give each entry a unique name.
- Click on the “Create Alert” button to get started.
- In the field labeled “Usage Threshold” you can enter any value you want. However, a good starting point is 20% more than your “Avg Energy Use.” To find that value, multiply “Avg Energy Use” by 1.2.
- Select the appropriate options for the alert that you desire and save.
If your energy use goes over your threshold, you’ll receive an email from OUC the next day. This High Usage Alert is your opportunity to visit the Usage Dashboard and review your energy consumption for ways to be more efficient.
