The OUC Orlando Half Marathon has received a Gold Level Certification from the Council for Responsible Sport for its commitment to environmentally and socially responsible practices. OUC has proudly served as title sponsor of the race since 1999. Organized by Track Shack, the event takes place each December in downtown Orlando.
To qualify for the certification, the race met standards across five categories: planning and communications, procurement, access and equity, resource management and community legacy.
Other actions that led to the recognition include:
- 1,038 pounds of race day recyclables captured and recycled.
- 1,209 pounds of food waste and cups composted.
- 9.8 metric tons of carbon emissions offset.
- Over 55% of event food and beverages sourced within 250 miles.
The 2024 race was evaluated for the most recent Gold Certification, which lasts two years. The event was previously certified Gold in 2018. It earned Silver in 2016 and 2022.
The 2025 OUC Half Marathon Weekend will take place December 6 and 7 this year.
