It was “OUC Night” at the Magic game on Friday, March 29, with Orlando’s local NBA team helping celebrate its hometown utility’s 100th anniversary.
At the game, OUC General Manager & CEO Clint Bullock and OUC Board President Larry Mills made an appearance at center court to receive Orlando Magic jerseys from Magic CEO Alex Martins. In a nod to the centennial, the number on the back of each jersey read “100.”
As part of the presentation, the Magic gave special recognition to utility workers “who tirelessly serve our community, often in challenging conditions.”
Fans were shown two special videos on the big screen at the Kia Center highlighting OUC’s special role in the community.
The first video highlighted OUC’s instrumental role in providing innovative solutions that helped the Magic reach their company sustainability goals, especially in its arena. Of course, OUC has been a strong partner for the team throughout its 35-year history.
The second video spotlighted the two companies’ recent community partnership efforts that included a Feb. 29 volunteer activity supporting Blessings in a Backpack. At that event, nearly 100 volunteers from OUC and the Magic filled 800 bags with nonperishable food to benefit students who might not have access to affordable healthy food on weekends.
