OUC recently put the finishing touches on a new 230‑kilovolt (kV) transmission line to strengthen reliability and meet the growing energy needs of customers in St. Cloud and southeast Orlando, one of the region’s fastest‑developing areas.
The Orlando St. Cloud Resiliency Connection delivers a new 21-mile transmission line. Construction began in January 2023, and the line was energized in November 2025.
Transmission lines allow for the transfer of electricity over long distances, between substations, and are necessary for delivering power from generation facilities, such as power plants or solar arrays, to the grid. This investment strengthens the grid, adds resiliency and is expected to reduce outages. By reinforcing the system today, OUC is ensuring reliable, future-ready service for the entire community.
“This gives us another source of power into St. Cloud to be able to serve that territory, which is growing very rapidly,” said Adonis Willis, Senior Engineer, Substation/Transmission Project Management.
