How to Use OUC’s Outage Map to Stay Informed on Power Outages

When the power goes out, whether it’s during blue skies or a storm, your first step should be to report the outage.

Reading the Outage Map

OUC’s service territory is outlined in blue on the Outage Map. When an outage occurs, a colored circle will appear.

The Map Legend, located on the bottom left corner of the Outage Map, identifies the number of customers who are out of power.

In the example to the left, the blue circle indicates an outage for less than 200 OUC customers.

The circle provides an approximate, but not exact, location for the outage. It appears near the center of the outage, and impacted customers surround it.

A circle with multiple colors and a number in the middle indicates multiple outages (2 = two outages, 3 = three outages, etc.).

Additional details are available in a box labeled Outage Information on the bottom right side of the Outage Map. This box appears only if there is an ongoing outage.

In this example, you can see the cause of a recent outage, when the outage started, the estimated time it will be resolved, how many customers are impacted and the status of the crew.

In case of an outage at your location, the Outage Map is your best resource for updates on when power will be restored.

Always report your outage via text, your myOUC online account or phone, even if it is noted on the map, to ensure that OUC knows all affected customers.
